Adam Driver is in Play. But Doesn’t He Usually in Movie? We Investigate.

by Zach Raffio. @zachraffio.

NEW YORK, NY - The limited run of Kenneth Lonergan’s Hold on to Me Darling has begun performances Off-Broadway, with Adam Driver leading the ensemble cast - creating one of the hottest live theatre tickets of the year. But isn’t Adam Driver usually in movie? The Broadway Beat investigates.

Looking up Adam Driver on Google, we find that he is a notable actor who indeed does do movie, such as Star Wars, Gucci House, and at least two more. But does he only do movie on screen we watch?

Turns out: no! Adam Driver has done in-person movie (aka “play”) before, and even got a Tony nomination for it! What’s a Tony nomination you ask? It movie award for in-person movie that you can’t rewind, no matter how hard you try.

But why would he do play when he can movie? Isn’t it easier to do movie one time than play six times or maybe even more? And what happens if he coughs during play? Do they start the whole thing over? I would ask for them to start the whole thing over.

Still, Adam Driver has decided not to do movie and to do play, which is something we have to live with - even if it means movie will have a character who isn’t there and doesn’t speak, cause Adam Driver didn’t show up to play him. I don’t think he’ll be winning a movie Tony for that role any time soon!

How long will Adam Driver be in play? Much like a soldier returning home from war, or your next birthday, there isn’t really any way to know when it’s happening. Still, we can assume that play is not forever, and that Adam Driver will be back in movie soon, playing someone or perhaps not.

Either way, we wish him the best in play, and hope that plays works out better or as well as movie and that the choice to do play and not movie is good play not movie choice. And, of course, that he votes ❤️.
