Typecast Much? Josh Groban to Star in Yet ANOTHER Musical Featuring Savory European Baked Treats

by Zach Raffio. @zachraffio.

NEW YORK, NY - Uhhhm, typecast alert! Following the news that Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford will lead a Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd next Spring, many insiders are wondering if Groban - following his pierogi-infused debut in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 - is destined to forever lead shows featuring savory European baked delights.

“Once you settle into a type, it can be really difficult to break out of it,” noted casting director Sim Ludwig, scouring local high schools for the perfect Anthony Hope by auditioning exclusively young men who can’t find dates to prom. “Groban has a few notable features: his rich voice, his disarming comedic timing, his humble spirit - but above all else, you can tell that guy knows his way around a flaky crust.”

At press time, Groban was seen attempting to impress agents with a home-cooked, nine-course meal featuring a variety of stews, roasts, and soufflés, all of which were awful. He plans to enroll in culinary school following Sweeney to at least get him a role in American Horror Story.
